Preview: 2011 BMW 5-Series

The 2010 BMW 5-Series GT world debut is just weeks away, at the Frankfurt auto show. Now, according to BMW and to new details confirmed by BMWBlog, the new sedan version of the mid-size 5er family will add an interesting twist or two, when it joins the family next year.

The new 5-Series Sedan is expected to arrive Stateside early next year as a 2011 model, though the automotive media will get a spin in the new car late this year.

At the Geneva Motor Show in 2008, BMW unveiled the X5 EfficientDynamics concept, a hybrid diesel variant of the BMW X5 luxury SUV. Last week, BMW announced that it's bringing a new concept vehicle to Frankfurt this September -- a vehicle that will take the EfficientDynamics concept at least one step further, if not more. Not only is this model expected to employ sustainably derived materials in its construction, but rumor has it that the vehicle will also be powered by an electric motor.

Spy Shots: 2011 Lincoln MKX

When you live down the street from a working car factory, you're bound to see something interesting--as did the staff of Cars.com today, when they nabbed photos of the next Lincoln MKX as it drove right by their offices.

On the KickingTires blog, David Thomas and company published a gallery of spy shots of the new MKX, which could arrive as a 2011 model sometime in the later half of next calendar year.

Joining the 2010 Lincoln MKT in the brand's lineup, the 2011 Lincoln MKX will be the five-passenger counterpoint again to the seven-seat MKT.
