Want American-made and fuel-efficient? A small car, too? You don't have many choices.

Shoppers are valuing fuel efficiency more than before, especially now that they might be able to take advantage of a $4,500 Cash-for-Clunkers incentive. While there are plenty of stars-and-stripes-waving larger vehicles, the list of smaller, frugal American-made cars is very limited.

The good times for Hyundai keep on rolling: J.D. Power and Associates has given top marks in its Vehicle Launch Index to the 2009 Hyundai Genesis. The Index "quantifies how well new vehicle models -- including new entries to the market and all new redesigned models -- perform during the first eight months after launch." Among the many criteria that J.D. Power considers during the evaluation process are vehicle revenue, dealer gross profit, residual value, and data imported from the company's Initial Quality Study. In an effort to keep the wheels of (re)invention rolling, General Motors has released plans for a "72-Hour Sale", which starts today and runs through July 6. By our calculations, that's considerably longer than 72 hours, but we're going to give GM the benefit of the doubt and assume they mean business hours. Besides, calling it a "144-Hour Sale" wouldn't be quite as catchy.
